About Lumoxina

Lumoxina exists to bring clarity and confidence to the perimenopause and midlife transition.

The name Lumoxina comes from two roots. “Lumi” means light or knowledge, and “Moxie” means inner strength and determination. Together, they reflect what midlife women need most right now: grounded information and the tools to act on it.

During the midlife transition, the body can start to feel unfamiliar. Symptoms surface, energy shifts, and it becomes harder to know what is hormonal, what is normal, and what actually matters for long-term health.

Lumoxina is a space for women who want science-based health education without hype, fear, or quick fixes. The goal is not to overwhelm you with information, but to help you understand what is happening in your body so you can move forward feeling informed, capable, and strong.

Hi, I’m Maggie

Hi, I’m Maggie Soberay, a physician assistant, sexual health clinician, recovering perfectionist, and someone with an insatiable need to learn.

I’ve been a PA since 2011, with a background in pelvic floor health and colorectal surgery before moving into sexual health four years ago. Once I made that shift, the connections became hard to ignore. Gut health, pelvic function, sexual health, and overall wellbeing intersect in ways that most clinical training doesn’t fully address, and perimenopause sits right at the center of all of it.

In my clinical work, I see women every day who are trying to make sense of what’s happening in their bodies. They arrive overwhelmed, frustrated, and often dismissed, unsure whether what they’re feeling is hormonal, stress-related, or something worth worrying about. Many have already seen providers who ran labs, told them everything was normal, and offered nothing else.

That gap is not unique to my training. Most healthcare providers received little to no formal education in perimenopause or menopause. When I recognized that, I decided to do something about it. I’ve spent the last several years studying the research, reviewing resources from credible organizations such as the Menopause Society, and attending clinical talks, not because I have all the answers, but because my patients deserve better than a shrug and a generic handout.

Most women don’t need more information. They need better context, clearer explanations, and practical ways to apply what the evidence actually shows, including the parts that are still evolving and uncertain. That’s what Lumoxina is here to offer.
